Optimisation of a smart energy hub with integration of combined heat and power, demand side response and energy storage

An operational cost minimisation model is established for a smart energy hub (S.E. Hub) consisting of combined heat and power (CHP) unit, heating, ventilation air-conditioning (HVAC) system, thermal electricity storage units. The optimal operation CHP with the load management HVAC under time-of-use (TOU) tariff. split ratio dynamically determined during operation. scheduling charging/discharging systems are also through optimisation model. system can therefore shift demand manage supply simultaneously. System requirements environment factors including outdoor air-temperature variation, seasonal battery degradation considered. Comprehensive case studies carried out to examine effectiveness proposed strategy, from which insights obtained different strategies possible upgrade S.E. Hub. Simulation results reveal that dynamic control an effective way save total cost, clear saving shown strategy. • A Hub CHP, ESS. heat/power controlled along DSR. EMS strategy shows over surveyed data.
